The Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) has published this Monday the second call for the 500 Program that includes scholarships of 500 euros per month for a year so that 100 young people up to 30 years old can prepare oppositions for any of the bodies and scales of the Group A of the Generalitat. The recipients of these grants must be university graduates with a minimum average grade of 7 on their academic record.
Those interested and interested in receiving this aid can register online from Tuesday on the website until next Monday, September 28. In the first call for the 500 Program, the scholarship was granted to 75 young people who chose to apply to one of the 1.700 places in the Public Employment offers (OPE) corresponding to the years 2017, 2018 and 2019.
The Generalitat has allocated an item of 450.000 euros to cover the cost of this initiative, which received a total of 466 applications.
In this year's call, the age limit of potential beneficiaries has been increased to 30 years inclusive and the bureaucratic burden has been reduced, since last year each applicant was required to document documentary proof that the opposition was being prepared in an academy or with a person recognized for this task by the Valencian Institute of Public Administration, while in the current call such accreditation is not necessary.
In addition, the calculation of the score of the academic records has been simplified and the obligation to attend the first selective test of access to public employment immediately after the announcement of the aid has been eliminated.
The goal of Program 500 is "to encourage the Valencian Administration to recruit qualified young people to inject new life into the Generalitat, whose workforces are aging", according to heads of the Department of Justice, Interior and Public Administration. In fact, more than 60% of the staff are over 50 years old, only 15% are under 42 and only 0,36% are under 30 years old.
In addition, during the last legislature 1.277 people retired and the forecast indicates that, in the next four years, another 2.186 employees will retire.
