La Palliative Care Unit of the Hospital Marina Alta treats more than 400 patients per year. They are sick who are in the final stretch of their lives and for whom a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and social workers develop tailor-made programs that address both the physical, emotional and social aspects.
Patients receive care at home, through the Home Care Unit -UHD-, as in your Health Center, in Primary Care, or in the Hospital itself.
In the 2014 400 unit he attended patients, through a thousand queries. The 36% of care were conducted by teams UHD in the home. In addition Nursing also conducted telephone follow more than 300 patients.
According to the doctor, Xaro Baydal, doctor Palliative Care Unit, "there are two key moments in human life: one is the birth and one death. So the goal is to exempt the terminal patient the same exquisite care provided to you at birth".
