13º International Jazz Festival: flamenco, bossa nova, world music and a film series

The Culture Councilor, empar Bolufer and the artistic director of the Xàbia Jazz, Kiko Berenguer, today presented the poster of the festival, which will propose three carefully selected concerts to try to please all audiences.

On Saturday 3 in August the Cuban composer and pianist will kick off the festival Omar Sosa, who along with Ernesto Simpson (drums) and Childo Tomas (electric bass) will offer a repertoire that fuses his Afro-Cuban sounds with a wide spectrum of music from the world and electronics elements.

The second concert, 4 August, will be led Berenguer, saxophonist Xàbia himself presenting his latest album "Air", with clear Flemish touches, accompanied by Juan de Pilar (flamenco guitar), Rogerio Campas (bass), Igor Tavan (percussion), John C. and Joni Amador (voice and palms) and Joao Frade (accordion). To complete the scene they will have the unique bailaor Tomasito, who has traveled the world with the company of Paco Peña.

The last of the proposals scheduled for Monday August 5, the stars in the Carmen Cuesta and Chuck Loebb couple, one of the most acclaimed guitarists of the international scene and who has played with Stan Getz. The merger with the Madrid singer, who is noted for its fine interpretation of bossa nova, makes them one of the highlights of the Xàbia Jazz.

All concerts will be at 22'30 pm in the Plaza of the Constitution and the tickets will be priced at 15 40 euros and manure (12 and 30 retirement).

Besides the concerts, there prepared a series of cultural activities that rounded the jazzy atmosphere of this summer, including a new bet: the cinejazz, a series of evenings at the riurau d'Arnauda in which there will be round tables, short pass, the film "the jazz Singer" will be screened and enjoy a guitar concert with a repertoire of movie soundtracks with jazzy atmosphere. This cycle will be Tuesday July 30 2 August to Friday night.

Other parallel activities are "jazz plat" packs special menus in restaurants and tapas bars of the town including the entrance to the evening concert and reserved seat in the front rows; and the exhibition of collages and photocompositions "The jazz problem" that will install Mardi (José Lledó) in Cactus Shop of 3 3 August to September.

The mayor of Culture Xàbia, Empar Bolufer has stressed that this festival is one of the biggest cultural events of the summer in the region and a great tourist potential, which means that local groups are involved and each year contribute ideas that enrich. The councilor also spoke about the economic impact of this event in hospitality and hotel establishments in Xàbia, so thanked the cooperation with sponsors and authorities which grants have been asked to keep.
