A new company is in charge from this week of the street cleaning service and the collection of waste in Xàbia
The City Council of Xàbia informs that the morning between Thursday and Friday of this week (January 28 at 00 hours) the change of company in charge of street cleaning services, public areas and beaches, of the management of the ecopark and waste collection.
From now on, Tetma SA will be in charge, which begins this week a progressive implementation process that will entail the total modernization of the service, with numerous and important changes over the coming months: from a comprehensive change of machinery and the fleet of vehicles as in the management of the eco-park and the green points, trying to put an end to the problems experienced in recent years.
There will also be an increase in personnel and the containers and litter bins will be renewed, with the use of a powerful technological platform to improve efficiency, manage complaints and incidents and pollute less.
The contract will involve municipal spending of 5 million euros per year, an increase of about two million per year that the City Council will not affect in the rate paid by residents.
The new contract -which is expected to be 100% operational before the summer- tries to respond to the main problems detected and to stop the discharges, with the incorporation of a specific team for cleaning, surveillance and sanctioning action.
Another of the strong points of the contract is the means allocated to environmental education, to the dissemination of good practices by professional sectors or to stop uncivil behavior, for example, those related to animal excrement.
As for street cleaning, all the machinery will also be changed, which will become electric and, therefore, less polluting and much quieter when working at night. Washdown with high-pressure hot water and disinfectant products is recovered and minimum street cleaning frequencies are set in urbanizations, which will have two exclusive scrubbing machines for spreading. In addition, the machinery includes an accessory that will allow weeds to be uprooted from sidewalks and tree pits.
The timing of the service is also improved to reinforce the means in the weeks of high occupancy and on the beaches, which add specific machinery and resources such as a boat to improve the cleaning of less accessible coves and a drone for inspections.
