La Marine Collection 95 Composed by archaeological remains of 60 sites in the Marina Alta region, it has been returned to Xàbia, specifically to the Soler Blasco Museum after having been ceded, for 20 years, to the MARQ of Alicante.

The pieces, of a wide chronology, according to the Director of the Museum, Joaquim Bolufer, correspond between the IV and the III millennium before our Era and are from caves of funerary use of the Chalcolithic period.

The collection was handed over in 1998 by Xàbia to Jorge Soler, a conservative archaeologist in the Prehistory area of the MARQ, who would catalog and study them for its dissemination. Precisely, last year the MARQ published a large volume of 584 pages entitled New data for the knowledge of prehistory in the Marina Alta district, coordinated by Soler himself and Josep Casabó, which includes 19 studies based on the study and information provided by this set of archaeological material.

Since last week, these pieces are once again part of the funds of the Museum of Xàbia and work is underway on an exhibition project to be shown both in the municipality and in an itinerant way by the Marina Alta.
