They prohibit bathing on the Arenal beach due to the breakage of the wastewater treatment plant
The Popular Party of Xàbia has denounced, through a statement, that there has been, this past weekend, a breakage in the outfall of the treatment plant and that it pours into the Arenal beach, which has caused the closure and the bathroom ban. The Populares have pointed out that this is the "umpteenth" time it has happened.
From the political formation they indicate that "the breakage has originated during these Easter and it has been this Saturday when a space of about 100 meters of the most touristic beach in Xàbia has already been closed."
The PP denounces that this incident has occurred due to "the lack of monitoring and control of these facilities by the Ministry and the Xàbia City Council."
"We denounced a few months ago from the Popular Party, then the rupture of the Arenal outfall originated 400 meters from the coast. And now a new rupture has occurred just 40 meters from the shore of the Arenal beach due to the lack of maintenance of the outfall", review the popular.
The statement from the PP of Xàbia insists that "the breakages and continued discharges reflect neglect and a continuous review of these facilities is needed, otherwise, the quality of the water and the posidonia will be affected. The solution for its protection is not only based on regulations, restrictions or LIC, but rather that the competent administration itself monitors and prevents these discharges from occurring".
