Jávea incorporates the inventory of municipal property five windmills de la Plana

18 March 2013 - 00: 00

The City Council of Xàbia has registered five windmills in the Plana de San Jerónimo (those numbered 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8), which for a few weeks have been formally owned by the Local Administration and have been incorporated into the inventory of municipal assets. The Councilor for Heritage, Antonio Miragall, explained that when he assumed the council and began to review documents, he was shocked to see that the windmills did not appear as municipal heritage, and therefore, the City Council had no power to initiate actions for its conservation and protection. The department began, discreetly, the entire process to claim ownership; a process that has been successfully completed a few weeks ago.

As indicated Miragall, with this regulation the Consistory will be able to avoid any attempt of usurpation of the patrimony that is of all and can also legitimately start up projects to improve its state and protection, as well as try to obtain subsidies to rehabilitate them.

The councilman, who is also responsible for tourism policy, is convinced of the value and attractiveness of these spectacular stone towers that are part of one of the most important sets of windmills in the Community and are an identifiable part of the landscape xàbia. That is why, within the new tourist routes, has been included on the mill that will reveal these historical buildings.
