During the December plenary session held this week in the town hall of Xàbia, the positions of the PSPV and PP constantly clashed at different points. But the most sensitive of all was when reference was made to the Duanes de la Mar parking lot, which, according to the popular ones, has completed its conditioning. "with errors and attacking the Intangible Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO and the principles of the European Landscape Convention of Florence".

Duanes' parking was one of the issues most questioned by the PP in the last plenary session. The conditioning of two plots of about 4.000m2 for parking use in the Port of Xàbia area has already been completed.

From the PP they regretted that in that public work, before the asphalting, a rainwater network had not been executed or installed to prevent all the rainwater from the 4.000m2 plot of the parking lot from draining and flooding Cristo del Mar Street and Avenida Lepanto.

The socialist government, in the plenary session of December, declared that once the work was finished it would carry out the rainwater network, but not inside the parking lot, but rather outside it on Avenida del Puerto. "Another brilliant idea as a result of the lack of technical foresight in municipal works", have criticized the popular.

The PP also points out the lack of response when they were interested in the disappearance of the existing trees before the works. "Actually, this land should be a green area, as provided for in the current General Plan, it has now been converted into a parking lot, a change only justified if the municipal government replaces the loss of the Duanes green area"says the training.

On the other hand, the popular ones have wanted to underline the disappearance of the old dry stone wall existing in the plot, which has been replaced by a concrete wall and the old stone has remained inside. "An error by the municipal government by failing to comply with the unanimous agreement in plenary session of July 2016, for the inclusion of dry stone margens as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO. Furthermore, the substitution of a dry stone wall for a reinforced concrete wall violates the Intangible Heritage of Humanity and the principles of the European Landscape Convention of Florence ", has disfigured the PP.

"This City Council has to set a good example in its actions and be consistent, it cannot demand that citizens replace dry stone walls, that they respect cultural heritage, and then that the City Council neither value them, nor maintain them nor do they And even more so when preserving the dry stone walls of Xàbia was the escape route so that roads and streets such as La Soberana, Cantallops, Italy, France have not become future bypass roads of Xàbia, and that now in a municipal work, no action is taken as a consequence is not appropriate ", the popular ones conclude their statement.
