El I Solidarity Christmas Market promoted by the Catalá Chorro de Xàbia family, it has already opened its doors. From today until next December 18, the premises of the old Bartolomé Hardware Store, located at Carrer En Forn number 10, welcomes this solidarity initiative in favor of Cáritas Parroquial both the Church of San Bartolomé and Our Lady of Loreto.
From the first hour, dozens of people have come to this space to buy some Christmas items and thus collaborate with the solidarity purpose. Among those attending the opening were the mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi, and the councilors: Rosa Cardona and Juan Luís Cardona (PP), Enrique Escrivá (Cs), Susana Ern (CpJ) and Rita Berruti, Antonio Miragall and Ximo Segarra ( PSOE).
The family spokesman and organizer of this event, José Vicente Catalá, has stated that he hopes that this market will have good acceptance among the public and will consolidate year after year. "The objective is to allocate all the proceeds to Cáritas to help people in vulnerable situations," said Catalá.
This first edition has the collaboration of the Nativity Scene Association and several individuals, although it is expected that in future editions all those who wish may participate by contributing their grain of sand with decorative elements or handmade Christmas products.
José Vicente Catalá stressed that this initiative, in addition to the solidarity aspect, aims to revive the historic center by providing a new commercial action that does not harm other entrepreneurs in the municipality.
The visiting hours of the Xàbia Solidarity Christmas Market are from Thursday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 13 p.m. and on Fridays also from 17 to 19 p.m.
