The Xàbia Jazz International Festival turns 2022 years old this 21 and celebrates it with a great lineup of artists. Valdés is the most influential figure in the modern history of Afro-Cuban jazz, he is also the winner of 6 Grammys and another 4 Latin Grammys (including the best jazz album 2022).

Undoubtedly, the long career of Valdés, more than 60 years in front of orchestras and as a soloist, will be reflected in Xàbia and will surprise the entire public that attends his show.

The second appointment with the Xàbia Jazz 2022 will come from the hand of The Original Jazz Orchestra (from the Taller de Músics de Catalunya), the Sunday 7 August. This concert, with 17 musicians in the Big Band, will feature the voice of the singer Monique Makon and both will offer 'Back to Amy', the first tribute to Amy Winehouse with a big band in Spain that will review 12 of the best-known songs of the missing British interpreter.

The third and last date of this historic and classic Festival will be the Monday August 8 starring Dancing Pepa Swing Band, a Valencian band specializing in New York music from the 20s and with an energy that revolutionizes the dance floors.

The Councilor for Culture, Quico Moragues, has highlighted this last concert "that it will be very fun and in which people will be able to dance. This band is one of the best in International Swing, so several swing schools have already been interested to attend the concert in Xàbia to be able to enjoy dancing".

Likewise, the Culture technician, Pepa Roig, has recalled that in the 21 editions of Xàbia Jazz there have been important soloists and big names on the circuit. Roig has highlighted that Xàbia Jazz has always supported Valencian jazz "when it existed but was not in fashion, as well as emerging artists who have later become key names in national jazz such as Andrea Motis".

Regarding access to concerts, the mayor of Culture has outlined that, like last year, this event will be a gift in the form of music and culture to the population and visitors to compensate for the bad times that have been experienced in the last two years due to the pandemic. Unlike last summer, there is no capacity quota, so it will not be necessary to reserve a seat or any paperwork. Entry will be completely free.
