Paint students will travel to Thiviers by the 40 anniversary of cultural exchanges

Next week the French town of Thiviers, twinned with Xàbia, commemorates the anniversary of 40 cultural exchanges that began in the years 70 and has organized a series of activities to celebrate.

It was in 1973 when a group of xabieros He traveled to this town in Aquitaine for the first time to perfect the language, forging friendships that still endure today. As the mayor of Culture, Empar Bolufer, has explained, these exchanges, in which the students stayed with native families, were carried out by people advanced in their time and antecedents of programs today established in the educational system, like the Comenius. From there, ties emerged that led to the creation of the association Friends of Thiviers and later the twinning of Thiviers with Xàbia.

This year, Amics de Thiviers has invited the students of the School of Mediterranean Painting, which has prepared a pictorial exhibition to participate in the activities of the meeting. The artists have made their paintings based on prints depicted by Thiviers and Xàbia, to form the exhibition "Brushstrokes on Thiviers", which can also be seen in Xàbia from August 2 to 25 in the Soler Blasco museum room.

Next week, the artists and their works will travel to France on a bus subsidized by the City Council to participate , at the party of the 40 anniversary and the I Festival of the Goose. As indicated by the president of Amics de Thiviers, Ismael Doménech, the group will depart the night of next Thursday and will be until the 9 in July hosted by families of Thiviers and, in addition to the party, you can participate in excursions and cultural activities.
