65 clubs, 760 people: this has been the fun 'Dia de Penyes' in Xàbia
Absolute success. This is how one could describe 'I Penyes Day' de Xàbia-held outside the San Juan festivities- which took place during the day yesterday Saturday at the Riurau d'Arnauda. More than 60 clubs, specifically around 65, gathered in this space to enjoy the first day of fun and brotherhood a few months after the Fogueres de Sant Joan festivities began.
In total, some 760 people of all ages lived a fun day, full of music, games, food and a good atmosphere. And it is that the day began at 10:00 in the morning with lunch. A barbecue welcomed each of the groups of friends.
The day continued with laughter and joy. The traditional game of the handkerchief, the game of chairs, blowing up balloons or getting more macaroni into a spaghetti have been the games in which the clubs have participated.
At noon it was time for the Paella Contest, in which the rice was provided by the Fogueres de Sant Joan Fiestas Commission. Each rock has loaded with paella, paellero, gas, ingredients and broth to make the best of all. Mixed, vegetable or Valencian were some of the varieties that were cooked in the enclosure, the best being that of the Penya with the Kikos. The party ended with music and the best atmosphere.
After the success of this first day of Dia de Penyes Santjoaneres, organized by the Comissió de Festes to celebrate, what we could say, the Mig Any de Fogueres, it may have come to stay.
