30 June 2020 - 11: 34

The Municipal Corporation of Xàbia approved, unanimously, a motion that reflects the institutional support of the Town hall to LGTBI citizenship and the commitment to promote public policies in favor of gay, lesbian, trans and bisexual people.

Xàbia has proposed a total of six agreements among which it is outlined that the Civil Registry Eliminate the discriminatory requirement towards the couples of women who must be married to register the babies born.

Likewise, the six proposals are:

  • 1. Make visible the institutional support of the city council to LGTBI citizens.
  •

  • 2. Continue offering a service of advice and care to LGTBI people, as well as public policies in favor of gay, lesbian, trans and bisexual people.
  • 3. Offer the necessary support to the LGTBI association of the municipality for the celebration of this day.
  •

  • 4. We urge the Council and, in turn, I urge the Government of Spain to request the Civil Registry to abolish the discriminatory requirement towards female couples, who have to be married to register babies born.
  •

  • 5. We urge the Council and that in turn I urge the Government of Spain because it approves the LGTBI State Law that collects the historical claims of the entire group, the Comprehensive Law of Equal Treatment and Non-Discrimination, as well as a specific regulation of Hate Crimes.
  • 6. Give transfer of these agreements in the Valencian Generalitat and to the government of Spain, especially to the Ministry of equality and to the General Directorate for Sexual Diversity and LGTBI Rights.
