Xàbia suspends public works and service activity in the face of the coronavirus alert

16 March 2020 - 16: 11

As previously announced, as of Monday, and in compliance with health recommendations and State of Emergency restrictions, the Javea Town Hall has Municipal offices closed to the public, although internally, work continues in shifts to ensure minimum services in case of infection. All citizen attention is redirected by phone and by email.

In addition, by expanding the restrictions, they are closed to the public Amjasa, the Ecopark, Ramblars and the Municipal Cemetery (only burials of the deceased may be made but no visits to the deceased). Also, as a new measure, the council has suspended public works and the activity of service companies such as pruning and garden maintenance.

Open or services provided: there are the Municipal Mercat and the car parks, considered basic services. The garbage collection service is also maintained normally, except for household goods.

Local economy

The executive is working from day one on measures to support the local economy to alleviate the effects of this situation. Once the measures and directives of the State are made public - scheduled for tomorrow Tuesday - the municipal actions can be finalized. At the moment, the administrative deadlines for the payment of fees and taxes (garbage, vehicles or occupation of public roads) are temporarily suspended.

The Local Police is ensuring compliance with the limitations in the movements of people marked by the State of Emergency (identifying people who are on public roads or at the entrances to the municipality), solving doubts and collaborating with commercial areas to regulate the access of its clients.

Help people at risk

From Servicios Sociales Contact is being made with Public Health and the Red Cross to supply food to people at high risk or who have to keep isolation and who lack a family network. People who want to collaborate with donations must contact the Red Cross.

Mayor, José Chulvi, has wanted to convey a message of serenity, and has made it clear that we are in the first phase of this emergency situation, so the absolute priority is health and avoiding infections. However, he is fully aware of the economic collapse that this situation will cause in many families and for this reason - in collaboration with all political parties - ways are being studied to be able to support them when the time is right.

Chulvi has asked the population for responsibility, cooperation and to be permanently informed through official channels. #Stay at home
