Xàbia, headquarters of the works of the artist Lucebert, thanks to the IVAM

El Javea Town Hall and the IVAM have inaugurated a simultaneous exhibition in the three municipal exhibition halls the Lucebert exhibition, Lubertus Jacobus Swaanswijk.

The exhibition, titled Alles van waarde is weerlos (Everything that has value is defenseless), can be seen in the Casa del Cable, Soler Blasco Museum y Ca Lambert, where drawings, paintings, ceramics and poems are displayed. Most of the works come from the donation that his widow made to the IVAM in 2003.

In the presentation held at the Casa del Cable, a large number of people attended, including dozens of painter's and art students from IES Antoni Llidó, as well as art lovers. The Councilor for Culture, Quico Moragues, highlighted that Xàbia, Rotterdam, Valencia and Amsterdam are points that unite Lucebert's map.

Mayor, José Chulvi, said that the population felt fully identified with the title, "Xàbia is a beautiful and fragile space where we have managed to build a coexistence project and grow around the values ​​of culture, of multiple cultures. Lucebert chose Xàbia to spend long periods and as mayor I am glad that the Dutch community has a excellent representative like Lucebert ". Chulvi was pleased to have carried out this IVAM project.

For his part, the artistic director of the IVAM, Sergio Rubira, said that one of the objectives is to preserve the heritage of all Valencians and thanked the City Council that was the first to propose this exhibition.

The curator of the exhibition, Teresa Millet, thanked the widow of Lucebert, the donation of near 200 works to the IVAM. Also, the daughter of the artist, Noa Swaanswijk, said that her parents came to Altea in 1963 since she liked the light of the Mediterranean and there were many Dutch artists. In 1968 they came to Xàbia and five years later they bought a house in the Lluca area.

The exhibition can be visited until the 5 in May. In the Casa del Cable, two types of work are presented; On the one hand poems and drawings included in the lithographs folder Lucebert the Tired Lovers They Are Machines, and on the other, eight ceramic sculptures that the artist made in Berlin at 1994. Ca Lambert exhibits a selection of drawings and paintings dated between 1957 and 1993 and the Soler Blasco Museum shows some of the works that show places that Lucebert probably knew in his long stays in La Marina Alta.
