El Javea Town Hall has prepared an extensive programme to commemorate International Women's Day, which is celebrated on 8 March. To mark this event, three local councillors and various clubs and organisations in the town have joined forces to offer a large number of activities for all ages over the course of two months.
The main objective of this celebration is to claim women's rights in all areas, therefore, talks, theatre, music and sports activities will be held. At the presentation, Raquel Violero, Councillor for Equality, Mavi Pérez, Councilor for Culture, Tony Molina, Councillor for Sports and Rosa Cardona, Mayor of Xàbia, have outlined each of the events that will take place in Xàbia to mark this day and to raise awareness of gender equality.
Programme
The programming will begin this February with the Cursa de la Dona, organized by the Club Esportiu Llebeig, in which more than 700 people will participate in the 5km march that will be on Sunday February 16.
The artistic and musical sessions will continue with the 4th year ESO students, where they will participate in the Creation and recording of two video clips giving image to the songs recorded in the workshop of the previous year with the aim of promoting gender equality. These pieces will be presented on Thursday March 13, at 20:00 p.m., at the House of Culture.
El Wednesday February 19, from 18:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m., will take place on illustration workshop 'Female stereotypes. The witch woman', by Helga Ambak. The illustrator will teach her techniques and dismantle gender stereotypes associated with women based on the social construct of the 'witch woman'. The workshop is aimed at all citizens and no prior knowledge of illustration is required. It will be held at the Duanes Library. Registration until February 17: helga.ambak@gmail.com. The results of this workshop will be presented at the institutional event on March 7 and will remain on display at the Historic Center Library until March 15.
El 6 March At 20:00 p.m., the meeting is at the Xàbia Conservatory where a
concert dedicated to compositions signed by women entitled: Women in music, in its sixth edition.

Pepa Cases Kiss Me 2.0. That same day will be inaugurated in the Soler Blasco Museum exposure My demons, by Xusa Bou. This exhibition will be on display until April 13.
The storytelling will take place the second week of April Once upon a time there was a story backwards, for 3rd grade primary school students, dismantling myths and gender stereotypes that are learned through children's narrative stories.
On Thursday, April 10, at 18:00 p.m., the writer and professor Anna Freixas will offer a conference-colloquium where she will reflect on ageism from a gender perspective. An event in which she will also present her
book I Old, at the Social Center.
