Xàbia brings together 41 Optimist sailors at the International Cyclone Clinic

The 11th edition of the CN Jávea International Cyclone Clinic has closed its first phase, of the two planned, with a very positive balance and with 41 sailors present from Germany, Denmark and Spain, a country that has had representatives from the Basque Country, Catalonia and the Valencian Community: RCN Valencia, CN Jávea, RCN Torrevieja, CN Altea, CN Santa Pola and RCR de Alicante, all of them under the orders of technicians Riky Stadel, Javier Dusmet, Sven Stadel, Julián Viciano and Fernando Puig.

The second block of this clinic will start today, December 31, and will conclude on January 3, 2022, counting on this occasion with the German, Danish and local club sailors, which one more year has completely turned to para carry out this important meeting between the Optimist-class fleet.

A clinic that is consolidated in the calendar as one of the most important “set-ups and preparation” of the Optimist class, both nationally and internationally, backed by the presence in these 11 years of sailors of the stature of Julia Miñana, European champion 2015; Kike and Pablo Lujan, Argentine bronze for teams; Mewes Wieduwild 2016 European Champion; Katherina Schwachhofer bronze in the European team; the Mohr brothers: Mic was absolute bronze in the 2017 World Cup and 7th in the following edition, while Roko was runner-up in the world by countries in 2016 and 7th absolute, among many others who have passed through the bay of Jávea.

In 2021, among the more than 40 sailors present in the Jávea boat, there are eight who appear in the current top ten of the FVCV ranking, among them Blanca Ferrando, double champion of Spain this year; Carlos Espí 4th in the European Optimist, as well as Ramón de la Serna; Pedro Adán, Quini Valero, Nando Puig, while at the international level the appointment has had the German Amelie Röpke who participated in the 2021 European Championship in El Puerto de Santa María with only 11 years old, among others.

There have been four days of intense work and fine-tuning, emphasizing sail trim, exercises focused on improving and working on technique and tactics in regatta with various starts and speed, concluding each of the days in the water with 2- 3 tests, all under very good wind conditions in the bay of Jávea with an average that has been between 12 and 14 knots of intensity and on a hairpin on its axis from 170º to 290º.

On the ground, the technical staff has carried out a briefing and theories before leaving, giving way to physical preparation with the warm-up and previous stretching. At the end of the day in the regatta area, each of the established work phases, as well as the evolutions in the events held, have been analyzed and detailed.
