The Local Police of Xàbia has reported that in recent days there have been several emergencies, two of them, on Christmas Day, due to poor management of the remains of the embers of fireplaces or barbecues; that is why the police force asks citizens to take extreme precautions when disposing of this waste when it is still active.
In the two emergencies that occurred, they affected particular spaces (parcel shelters) but it is also common for these latent waste to be the source of the container fire.
From the Police Headquarters they warn that during these days, in which there are also active warnings for wind risk, be especially careful and avoid any situation that involves danger of forest fire, of plots or of a green point, with the consequent danger to homes or vehicles parked in nearby areas.
That is why the population is asked to check that the embers and ashes are completely extinguished and cool before throwing them into a container or in areas where they can light hedges or bardizas. In this sense, it is recommended to leave them at least one day in a designated area on your plot or if available or in a metal drum.
