Xàbia prepares a beacon plan that foresees leaving buoys all year round to protect points of the coast such as La Sardinera or Cala Blanca

January 11 from 2021 - 10: 02

El Javea Town Hall has awarded the drafting of the new coastal beaconing contract to the local company Císcaro, Proyectos y Construcción for a total of 15.600 euros.

Now, this engineering company will prepare the project with which the coastal service will be defined for the next four years and with which the City Council hopes to adapt the temporality of the beaches to reality: extend the time in which the coast is safe for bathers and maintain protection of the most sensitive points and those with more nautical pressure.

As explained by the Councilor for the Environment and Beaches, Antonio Miragall, the new contract will keep Gravel as a "winter beach" marked out all year round. But there is also an intention to leave the buoys in key areas such as Cala Blanca or the Sardinera, thus preventing the boats from approaching the same shore from October.

Maintaining the buoys throughout the year means assuming and having a significant economic amount in anticipation to be able to replace those that may be lost in storms, adds the councilor.

Miragall advances another of the novelties that the Consistory wants to incorporate in this contract, which is that the company that is in charge of installing the beacons and their maintenance also has on its staff a security guard / informant who during the summer does awareness and information tasks on where you can anchor and where it is prohibited.

With these actions, Xàbia tries to increase the protection of its seabed to the extent of its possibilities, since the sanctioning power is in the hands of the State security forces. In addition, the City Council is also awaiting any regulatory changes that the Generalitat may carry out in the field of posidonia protection and the regulation of the use of mooring buoys.
