El Arenal could have a long-term health care service, not only in summer, or all year round. This is a proposal launched by the Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi, in today's plenary session in response to the request of the spokesperson for Ciudadanos Xàbia (C's), Enrique Escrivá.
We remember that the spokesman for Cs registered, a few days ago, a urgent motion to be debated in this plenary session, demanding the Town hall to request, both the Department of Universal Health and Public Health and the management of the Department of Health of Dénia, to extend the season in which the Arenal Auxiliary Medical Clinic provides services.
Faced with this request, the mayor responded that the proposal is interesting and believes that it should be taken to committee so that the best option can be determined, although in his opinion, the best course of action would be "to ask for the construction of a new health center in El Arenal that includes the radiology service (also responding to Enrique Escrivá's request) or request the extension of the auxiliary office hours that are enabled for the tourist season".
Regarding these proposals, Chulvi has stated that in order to request one of the two questions, it is necessary to determine what is intended first. The mayor recalled that all the citizens of Xàbia have an assigned doctor, either in the town center or the port, "so if what is wanted is for the southern area of Xàbia to have an independent center that provides service to this area will have to choose to apply for a new center".
The mayor's statements have been well received by Escrivá who has stated that "it is good news to be able to listen to these proposals" that would improve the health care of the residents of Arenal and surroundings avoiding the transfer to another point of Xàbia.
For the time being, and as has already been mentioned, this motion is called for debate in a municipal commission.
I think it is necessary and essential.
Requesting it is one issue but building it is another, now they say: Marina Salud is the one who has to build it but they doubt they will do it. So anyone can go requesting what they want.
What coincidences! Now that the elections are approaching, the Mayor wakes up suddenly, after years of doing nothing to solve the thousand problems that Jávea has. Is he going to fix (or say he's going to fix) everything else now that he's announced that he's running again for the next four years? Curious right?
