Xàbia shows its commitment against corruption

In the plenary session this December, held last Monday, the municipal corporation of Xàbia unanimously backed a motion agreed by all the spokespersons of the political groups that form in which they show their commitment to fight corruption in all its forms, put transparency, accountability and participation at the center of our local and global agendas and show support for the Resolution of the United Nations Convention.

The motion mentions the proclamation by the United Nations Organization (UN) of December 9 as International Day against corruption, with the purpose of preventing and raising awareness and points out that in Spain, according to the latest CIS barometer, "Corruption is one of the main problems for citizens, behind unemployment, politicians and economic problems."

Therefore, they consider that joint actions must be carried out that are the product of a new multilevel governance approach in which local and national governments complement their action and where the constructive dialogue between the public sector, the private sector and civil society is constant.

2020 budgets

The last ordinary plenary session also had the extension of the general budgets. As indicated by the councilor of Finance, Ximo Segarra, the extension is a mere procedure, "My goal is for the new ones to be in 2020 and soon the budgets will be there and they will be delivered to all political groups so that they can be agreed upon".

Before this extension, the popular mayor, Óscar Antón, He clarified that Xàbia resists having new budgets one year after another, since the extended ones date from 2017.
