Xàbia will honor the writer Carmelina Sánchez-Cutillas, one of the great figures of Valencian letters

The Xàbia Public Library will honor the writer Carmelina Sánchez-Cutillas, one of the great figures of Valencian literature; writer, researcher and intellectual whom the Valencian Academy of Llengua (AVL) designated as 'Writer of the Year 2020-2021'.

For this, he will offer a musical recital on the afternoon of Thursday, December 2, entitled "Polsim de temps de records" starring the actress Marina Mulet i Gayà, who will give voice to the texts of Sánchez-Cutillas with the accompaniment of the guitarist and singer Sandra Monfort Oliver . The show will be at 19:30 p.m. at the Casa de la Cultura, with free admission until full capacity is reached.

The actions to disseminate the figure of this great Valencian writer are completed with the exhibition "Des de les fronteres del silenci" that can be visited between December 3 and 16 on the ground floor of the Library of the Historic Center. Curated by the Acedèmia Valenciana de la Llengua and traveling in nature, this exhibition vindicates this unique writer, granddaughter of the historian Francisco Martínez y Martínez (Altea).

Carmelina Sánchez-Cutillas studied Philosophy and Letters at the University of Valencia and wrote on cultural issues, forming part of the generation of post-war Valencian poets. Some of the collections of poems he published were Un món rebel (1964), Conjugació en primera persona (1969), Els hieroglyphs i la pedra de Rosetta (1976) and Llibre d'amic i amada (1980), although he also made forays into the novel, where he achieved his main success with Matèria de Bretanya, winner of the Andròmina Prize for Narrative in 1975.
