Last night, Xàbia celebrated the first event of the 2025 Fogueres de Sant Joan festivities: the proclamation of the children's queen and the presentation of the more than 60 young people from the youth committee, the presidents, the 150 boys and girls who make up the court of honor, and the ladies.
The event took place in a setting reminiscent of the sea, decorated with three llaüts and a lighthouse as its main elements, alluding to the town's seafaring identity.
Laia's proclamation was based on a story that combined the symbolism of wishes and the light of the lighthouse. During the ceremony, Laia Sedeño was proclaimed child queen of the Fogueres, accompanied by Triana Berenguer Rodríguez as first lady-in-waiting and Ángela Bastida De Lamo as second lady-in-waiting.
The new presidents of the youth committee, Marcos Tormos Mata and Celia Cardona Sancho, were also introduced. They will represent the youth during the festive year.
As is traditional, the event included farewell speeches from the outgoing officials—youth presidents, queens, and ladies from the previous year—who took the opportunity to thank their families and friends for the support they received during their tenure and wished their successors success.
The ceremony was attended by hundreds of attendees who didn't want to miss this first major event of the 2025 Fogueres, marking the start of a highly anticipated festivities on the local calendar.
