The document was approved unanimously in the plenary session last November and has been presented to the Tourism Council. This document includes a total of 46 short and medium-term measures with the aim of boosting the resources that the city has to work constantly on aspects aimed at seeking new typologies.

With this starting point, AUREN Consultores was in charge of developing the Strategic Tourism Plan, which to carry out this project, have considered key elements such as collaboration in the stages of analysis, diagnosis and prioritization of action proposals, counting with the participation and involvement of the residents of Xàbia, the tourism sector, public and private agents who indirectly participate in this activity, thus reflecting the reality of the tourism industry in Xàbia. These phases have always maintained a focus focused on
strategic execution and tourism sustainability.
Regarding the objective of the plan, it focuses on promoting the correct use of the tourist, natural and heritage resources of Xàbia, making known, at a national and international level, a more complete tourist experience of the city and in accordance with the new needs of the demand, under criteria of quality, sustainability and
innovation.
Regarding the strategic plan, the Councilor for Tourism, Jose Marcos Pons, stressed that it is “an open and living document” that will govern the municipality's tourism policy for the coming years. Furthermore, he recalled that having this plan approved will allow Xàbia to regain its status as a tourist municipality again, a recognition that he could not renew after changing the Community's Tourism Law.
While the mayor, Rosa Cardona, highlighted that the Strategic Plan is the result of several years of work and stressed that the government team wants to “improve the quality of our tourism and we have approved an important tool for this.” And he announced that the City Council is now starting to work hand in hand with businessmen to implement the different lines of action.
