Xàbia against climate change will turn off the lights of the City Council during "Earth Hour"

18 March 2022 - 12: 54

El Next Saturday, March 26, Earth Hour is celebrated., a global movement that stages the alliance of governments and organizations against climate change and biodiversity loss.

El Javea Town Hall will be added one more year to this symbolic action and will turn off the light of the town hall from 20:30 p.m. to 21:30 p.m.. A small gesture to save energy that is expected to be supported by citizens in their homes.

Earth Hour was born in 2007 as a symbolic gesture to attract attention on the problem of climate change, but also to unite the world and remember the need for peace and harmony between human beings and nature.

One of its main promoters is the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The foundation points out that, this year, the action will take place at a very difficult time due to the conflict in Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis it is causing. For this reason, it is an opportunity to come together, take care of the home we all share and mobilize to demand a safer, fairer and more sustainable future.

Symbolisms like when they tell us that Javea is a benchmark for sustainable tourism, or something similar. As long as serious problems such as sewage systems, destruction of the mountain and excessive construction, among others, continue to be ignored, these symbolic measures by the City Council to turn off its lights falls within the purest hypocrisy.

I see a lot of posturing here, they don't clean the garbage from the riverbed and they want to turn off the lights, hypocrites, cheeky

  3. Arenal exists says:

Why turn off the lights if Jávea doesn't even have public lighting and if it does, it's burned out.
Urbanizations have been fighting against climate change for a long time, pedestrians go with mobile flashlights through the streets due to lack of maintenance.

  4. Luis says:

Another Action that is useless but And how good is it? I'm not saying it for Xabia, I'm saying it worldwide.
