The sectoral councils that channel citizen participation in Xàbia start a new term. Yesterday the Consell de Cultura, presided by Quico Moragues, and the Agrari Council, chaired by Marta Bañuls.
At the first meeting the new directors took possession. In the case of Culture, all political parties are represented, five members elected by the plenary for their “Recognized worth” and that they are the writers Pepa Guardiola and Paco Reus, the art expert Tomás Ruíz, the literary editor Esperanza Morais and the director of Living Chess, Rafael Andarias and spokespersons for local culture groups, such as the Musical Artistic Center, Amics del Museu, the Belenistas association, the Orfeón and the Telon-Eros theater group. Also present is the school community, the 21 Agenda and the Department of Education.
The first contact already served to put on the table projects that want to work and advance some concerns of cultural groups.
For its part, the Consell Agrario was constituted with representatives of the political groups with a municipal presence, the associations La Unió de Llauradors, AVA and the irrigators. This forum also presented the problems that agriculture goes through at the local level and some of the demands of the sector.
The two councils will meet quarterly and extraordinarily if there is justified need.
