Xàbia celebrated the day of the Virgen del Carmen with great fervor

Xàbia celebrated the day of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of the guild sailor, with great fervor. About noon a concelebrated Mass attended by councilors was held, Antonio Miragall y Kika MataIn municipal representation. Alongside them, the president of the Fishermen's Association, José Serrat and the president of the feast of the Virgin of Loreto, Juan José García. He was also, Juan Vicente Álvarez, Chairman of the Board of Moors and Christians and member of the fishermen's fraternity.

Attending Mass in honor of the Virgen del Carmen

At the end of the religious act there was a recognition of Miguel Mata for being a major patron of the brotherhood between 1991 and 1999. The current president handed him a commemorative plaque. Then, the Virgen del Carmen was shouldered to the port where the boat was waiting for her "Cap Prim Second", to be embarked. Once on the boat the traditional seafaring procession was carried out by the bay of Xàbia. The image was accompanied by several boats and numerous boats.

Miguel Mata recognition

Upon reaching the middle of the bay an offering was made to the deceased sailors, in charge of the wife of the "Cap Prim Second"and the advisor of the brotherhood, Moisés Erades. At the end of the meeting, all those present were called Salve Marinera. Then all leading to the port pusiero concluded the commemoration of the Day of Carmen.
