Xàbia celebrates Children's Week with different activities

On November 20, the International Day for the Rights of the Child is celebrated. A day that Xàbia celebrates in a special way, this 2021, since it coincides with the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Consell de Xiquets. In addition, Xàbia is recognized by UNICEF as a Child Friendly City.

For this week, the Department of Children has organized a series of activities for the enjoyment of the little ones. The Councilor for Children, Montse Villaverde, has explained that on the one hand, there will be talks and workshops in the different schools on the rights of the child and on Saturday the 20th will be held, in the Plaza de la Constitución, a fun day with workshops, face painting and music being a themed part in the magical world of Harry Potter. In addition, there will be a climbing wall, zip line, a giant target, a Quidditch tournament, photocall and quizzes about Harry Potter.

For the fun day, aimed at boys and girls between 4 and 12 years old, prior registration will be necessary since capacity will be limited. For this activity there will be two shifts; from 10 to 12 hours and from 12 to 14 hours. To participate in the workshops, you must first register for free at this link choosing the schedule, while access to the other activities is free.

For this day, in the Plaza de la Constitución there will also be an exhibition of the 'Paw Patrol of Xàbia', the canine unit of the Local Police, formed by Kosmo and Khalan.

On the other hand, the institutional act for the 10th anniversary of the Consell dels Xiquets, the organ of citizen participation with which the municipality gives voice to the smallest of municipal management, will be on Thursday, November 18, at 18:30 p.m. . In this act, the new counselors representing all schools in Xàbia will take office.

In this sense, Villaverde recalled that Xàbia was the first municipality in the province of Alicante to establish a childhood council and give official status to something as important as listening to children, their concerns and demands, a pioneering and widely reproduced initiative in other nearby towns.
