The department Servicios Sociales de Xàbia, through the foreign assistance office (Pangea), organizes next week the XI Cultural Diversity Week, a forum that aims to give prominence to the rich cultural diversity of the municipality with a specific program in which migrants will be given a voice and will try to break prejudices and stereotypes.

As explained by the council, the activities, all free, are concentrated from December 10 to 13 in the Duanes library and in the conference room of the Soler Blasco Museum.

The first one focuses on the video forum planned for the July 10, at 18: 30 hours in the Museum, where it will be screened “23 30 A captive story” a documentary about detention centers for undocumented immigrants. There will be a debate with the director, David Marrades, about the policies to stop irregular immigration.

On the other hand, one of the most enriching activities will be the second edition of the Living library, an experience in which the stories of adventures, of love, of mystery, of overcoming or of traveling are real and are told by the same people who have lived them. It will be in the Duanes Library the viernes 13 from the 17: 30 hours.

When the “readers” arrive they will receive a card and a catalog of the available person books so they can choose the one they want to consult, in all cases resident in Xàbia with more than interesting stories like Rupa Timilsina (Nepal), Assan Camara (Gambia ), Marta Català and Josefa del Pino (Spain), Hanan El Ayadi (second generation Muslim), Karen Luria (USA), Maru Hernández and Yelysley Arellano (Venezuela).

As a complement to the living library there will be a performance by a string quartet of the Conservatori and a trivial game about the objectives of sustainable development by the Red Cross, an entity that collaborates in the week of diversity.

Finally, the miércoles 11 At 18 hours at the Duanes Library there will be a day for children with the storyteller “The smallest of the butterflies” y workshops as Referents or What is the flesh color?.
