The ordinary plenary session held in the Javea Town Hall corresponding to the month of March approved the signing of the Collaboration Agreement between the Generalitat Valenciana and the Xàbia City Council for the transfer of first refusal and withdrawal rights, which will allow the Consistory to hold preferential acquisition rights when acquiring homes and thus power intended for social rent.
With this agreement, to which other municipalities in the region have already joined, Xàbia will be able to expand its public park, since the Generalitat, specifically from the Department of Housing and Bioclimatic Architecture, has reserved the amount of 10 million euros to help to those municipalities to buy houses to allocate them to the most vulnerable people in the town.
This agreement was created by the Consell in order to respond to the demand for housing in this context of economic and social crisis due to the high price of rents as it is a tourist municipality.
As indicated by the Consell, the homes acquired by the local administration will be classified as official protection on a permanent basis, so they will be incorporated into the municipal public park.
