El Javea Town Hall This Saturday, May 30, the forest prevention and surveillance campaign that it carries out with the collaboration of Civil Protection begins. This volunteer body will be organized in morning and afternoon shifts to have two guard teams active and carry out surveillance patrols throughout the municipality, a service that will last until October and will be coordinated with the Local Police and the regional fire station.
The councilor for Citizen Security and Fire Prevention, Pepa Gisbert, has pointed out that, in addition to being an important asset in terms of protection, Civil Protection teams are key in giving a quick response to any fire attack that may occur in our extensive municipal area.
In this regard, the Xàbia group is one of the first that –by training its volunteers and the material means at its disposal- has the official accredited accreditation of the Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response to intervene in the forest fire fighting operations and cooperate with the Firefighters Consortium in the event of a fire.
Gisbert recalled that in recent years, the City Council has been gradually reinforcing the teams and training of these volunteers: from self-protection equipment to pioneering vehicles and systems such as powerful sideinfo sprinklers.
Civil Protection provides a great service in Xàbia as evidenced by the 4.485 hours of surveillance and intervention that they accumulated during the surveillance campaign last year. During these months, there are permanently two teams on duty and the maximum risk days the operation is reinforced.
