Xàbia hosts regattas of the Valencian Community Olympic Week

About twenty sailors of the Hansa 303 class will meet next week in Xàbia to participate in the Valencian Community Olympic Week, a test organized by the Sailing Federation of the Community in collaboration with the Royal Yacht Club of Valencia, the Real Club of Regatas de Alicante, the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja and that of Jávea.

El Club Nautico de Javea It hosts the paralympic class regattas which is also eligible for the Eurosaf, however, only those in the individual Hansa 303 class will participate, not the 2.4mR class because the minimum registration could not be covered. The event has been considered by the International Sailing Federation as the European Championship for the individual men's, women's and junior categories (under 18 years old).

Among the participants, sailors from European countries such as England, France, Portugal, Poland and Switzerland, as well as Spain, will be in Xàbia, and among them the local sailor Rafa Andarias.

Andarias has indicated that it will be his first time on a Hansa 303 ship, a handicap that he hopes to compensate with his good knowledge of the bay to curdle a great role.

For his part, the Councilor for Sports, Alberto Tur, has valued the great work carried out by the Náutico in Xàbia both in promoting sailing at the grassroots level and in organizing comxicotetions throughout the year. Tur has also shown his pride that Xàbia has an athlete of the stature of Rafa Andarias, an exponent of adapted sport, a modality that needs to be bet on it.

The mayor, who has been accompanied by the sports director of the Yacht Club, Javier Momparler, has encouraged the people of Xàbia to enjoy this regatta and the possibilities offered by our coast to practice sports.

The regattas will be held from February 6 to 9 with a maximum of 3 hours a day in the water for the sailors, as this is required by the sailing regulations for the sailors of the Paralympic classes, which will always have the support of a team of 20 people from Club Nautico de Javea between monitors and assistants.

In addition, the jury will be led by the official jury of the Copa América, María Torrijos, who will lead a team of four judges with an unappealable decision.

The Club will offer afternoon activities for sailors and visitors with tastings of typical dishes, tastings of local products and other events. There will also be a boat available to the public to enjoy from the sea of ​​regattas.
