The robot actors return to CEIP Santa María Magdalena de Benitatxell

14 December 2019 - 00: 55

Cinema, performing arts and robotics come back to CEIP Santa María Magdalena in El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. Within the educational innovation project 'Program your work', the students will reinforce and learn to program a humanoid robot that will be the protagonist, together with the students, of the short film that they themselves will make and direct.

A short film that will complement this course with the introduction of 3D printing, as children will learn 3D design and print some decorative elements that will be part of the short film.

The project is an idea of Kaleidoscope, Start up of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, supported by the Department of Education of the Town hall of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, in charge of Jorge Pascual, who has made a firm commitment to the introduction of new technologies in the classrooms of the town.

It is therefore a project with double value, since it not only teaches students to program and work with high technology, but also intends that through it they acquire a greater awareness of the environment in which they live, because the short film should have a social or environmental purpose.

Last year, it was already presented 'Qui Soc', a short film with which it was intended to fight against bullying and promote equality.

New project

This year, 'Program your work' began in November with training and reinforcement
of teachers, both for programming robots and for the development of scripts, costumes and decorations. Now, once trained, they will be responsible for teaching students the development of scripts in the language class, the sets and costumes in plastic, and the programming of robots in technology and
computing.

But that is not all. The proposal aims to go further and become a project that creates synergies between students. Therefore, next May, the Miguel Hernández University will host the 'Program your work' event, where all participating centers will present their work and projections. In addition, on the same day, the events of the Air Fair will also be held, whose purpose is the construction of social drones, and MOMO, a project that combines animated short films with 3D Printing.

In this course, all these projects have the collaboration of the University of Valencia, the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, the Teacher Training Service of the Department of Education, CEFIRE, the Community of Madrid, CTIF and a total of 70 Town Halls. In addition, more than 1.500 students also participate
Primary, ESO and Bachelor of 90 educational centers in the provinces of Valencia and Alicante and the Community of Madrid.
