The Dénia Hospital will host, on October 13 and until mid-December, in the CuidArt Room, the exhibition 'Visionaries', a documentary photography exhibition that collects six disruptive initiatives on different aspects of sustainability in the Alicante region of Marina Alta.

Visionaries shows the environmental work carried out by six professionals in different fields of action. In it they participate from a fishing pattern, to an interior decorator; going through organic farmers, promoters of "els mercats de la terra"; the owner of a farm where international volunteers work or the directors of a teaching center, based on Permaculture.

The exhibition, curated by the Director of the Art Project of the Hospital de Dénia cuidArt, Alicia Ventura, consists of 51 pieces. All of them are printed on fabric, with solvent-free dyes and without a frame. The objective, underlines the curator, “is to create a sustainable exhibition format, consistent with the project and that is collaborative. The works, being flexible, can be transported and stored, which will allow the sample
travel throughout the Marina Alta ”.

According to the authors, the photographers Alejandro Álvarez Liberti and Rocío de la Vara, “the work has had something of a foreboding; hence its name, since the bulk of the photos were taken throughout the months of January and February 2020. We finished just a few days before the state of alarm was decreed, on March 14 of that year ”.

“Precisely the pandemic, the authors emphasize, has allowed us to reflect on the model of society that we have built and that we are projecting for future generations. Visionaries are very disruptive examples of sustainability that show that, in territories as small as the Marina Alta, a series of productive, architectural, pedagogical and labor initiatives are being carried out whose fundamental pillar is sustainability. It is, in a certain way, add the photographers, of a return to Humanism, of putting the person, the environment and the exchange relations as central axes of society ”.

The Visionaries They are: Vicente Moreno, patron of the Astraleta, fishing in the Port of Dénia, Jessica Bataille, owner of Bataille Living, Joana Baldwin, owner of a farm in Benimaurell, Andreu Costa, organic farmer and promoter of the Mercat de la Terra de Jesús Pobre, Xavier Mulet , organic farmer in La Xara and owner L'horta de Xavier and Javier Herrero and Marién Fuentes, directors of Waterhole in Orba.
