Stopping the spread of the coronavirus is the mission that all citizens have, whatever the country. Since this crisis started, Xàbia.com He has started a series of interviews with xabieros who live in other cities of the world to provide us with information on how this pandemic is being lived in the rest of the cities.

In Xàbia, or as we know, in all of Spain, we are confined at home and we follow the evolution of this health crisis but ... How is the situation in Germany going? Weeks ago we contacted Sonia villaverdeToday we do it with Vicent Polvoreda, a xabiero who has been living in Colonia for six years.

Polvoreda, who works as a computer scientist for the Bayer pharmaceutical company, tells us how the situation is being lived with more than 100.000 infected in Germany, "The death toll is relatively low compared to the number of positive cases and more if we compare with Spain. Currently there are around 1.400 deaths here in Germany."

A situation that shows, according to Vicent, the control that has been carried out since the beginning of the pandemic, "From my point of view in Germany the measures have been taken previously, making tests from the first moment to all the people who had had contact with a possible positive case, as well as its isolation, thus avoiding the spread of the virus". "It should also be noted that the health situation here (Germany) is not the same as in Spain; there are more beds, more respirators ...", adds Polvoreda.

Regarding the day-to-day situation, "Except in two federal states where it is forbidden to leave home, Germany is in low confinement, if establishments that have personal contact or are crowded (restaurants, bars, hairdressers) are closed but you can go for a walk, take food on request, doing sports and even in a group of a maximum of two people together. In fact, these days the weather is very good and people are taking advantage of going out. "

Some measures that are fulfilled by the majority of German citizens, "young people are the least serious about taking the recommendations not to go out, but in general, people keep their distance and keep their distance", comments this xabiero.

As for companies, for weeks, many of the workers already work from home, "I have been working from home for four weeks, since it does not make it impossible not to go to the office to carry out the daily task", says Vicent and clarifies that the Government has provided aid to citizens who have requested it in a few hours.

The situation of Spain

From Germany, according to this xabiero, the situation seen in Spain is that it is overwhelmed, "things were not done in time. The numbers are alarming. I am sad to see the situation of the families. I live from here with concern for my family, my mother belongs to the risk group and it is a question that you live scared away from home. "

Regarding his return to Xàbia, Vicent tells us that he planned to travel this May, a situation that he still does not know if he will be able to do.
