Since a few days ago, a neighborhood platform of the Segundo Montañar de Xàbia has started a campaign to collect signatures through charge.org against the construction of beach bars in this maritime zone. According to the residents of the second mountain, "we do not want the current beach model to be altered, it is a magnificent rocky beach between the Playa del Arenal and Cala Blanca that remains in the wild, with very little urban development ".
In response to this citizen request, Xàbia.com has been able to investigate the requested project and it is confirmed that a private company has requested the General Directorate of Costas the permission to build, for the use of the hotel industry, a building on the only empty plot of Avenida Ultramar, located in the number 69 (although an error appears in the file and it marks number 62).
This procedure dates back to the year 2016, when initially requested to the Directorate of Public Works of the Generalitat, was denied because the project presented did not comply with the regulations and occupied the area of transit easement. Modified the project, the interested party returns to present, in this occasion, in the Service of Coasts of Alicante, the project with the deficiencies corrected.
After reviewing and completing all the documentation is regulated, Costas authorizes the requested works according to the modified project in which no passageway area will be occupied by movable elements or fixed construction. The work requested includes an open building, with terrace and pergolas for hotel use.
Activity license
The next part to carry out a business ahead is to comply with the activity license, procedure that the employer requested, weeks before starting the drafting of the new General Plan, so that by meeting all the requirements of the urban plan in force, the report has been favorable. Otherwise, if the municipal application had entered just three weeks later, the report would have been paralyzed.
Now the neighborhood platform wants to paralyze the urban intervention in this type of space.

Please, leave this little natural and wild space that remains without mounting more beach bars, more noises, more cars! Is not it enough with the amount of beach bars, bars, restaurants and clubs that are in the Arenal? I think it does not matter if you try to protect a beautiful and quiet area, here the only thing that matters is money.
