Unanimity in Xàbia for Fomento to maintain the 24 Maritime rescue helicopter operating hours

In the ordinary plenary session held Monday, November 25, in the Javea Town Hall, the unanimously approved the motion presented by the mayor, José Chulvi, to claim the Ministry of Development to maintain in the Valencian Community the base of the helicopter of the Society of Salvation and Maritime Safety with permanent and unreachable guards, as has been reported to happen in January of 2020.

Both the government team and the opposition believe that this air means is of vital importance to ensure safety at sea, since there are multiple number of services they have performed on our coast.

All parties agree that the speed of response is key to a good intervention in cases of life or death, so passing the service to localized guards would only delay the response time to an emergency in about 45 minutes.

Compromís calls for the creation of a common front

For its part, from Compromís, its spokesman, Joan Cardona, asked in the plenary for the creation of a common front, along with other municipalities in the region and throughout the Valencian Community that will be affected by the cuts in maritime salvage, to make more strength, "before the response of Promotion to the requests already formulated by the City Council of Dénia in which it affirms that the base will go to Baleares". In addition, Cardona asked the mayor the need to present this motion in Les Corts Valencianes.

Also, the mayor of the Valencian formation, Vicent Colomer, Has stated that "We are the only autonomy that is affected by these cuts, when the level of tourists we receive and the extension of our coasts we should maintain this service."
