An opera and zarzuela recital closes this Friday the programming dedicated by Xàbia to Balenciaga

The Department of Culture of Xàbia closes this weekend the programming dedicated to Cristóbal Balenciaga in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of his death in the municipality.

The successful exhibition "El Siglo de Balenciaga", which has occupied the three municipal halls for the last three months and broken all attendance records, will have a musical touch on Saturday with an opera and zarzuela recital starring the soprano Teresa Albero and Jesús Mª Gómez at the piano.

It will be in the church of Sant Bertomeu, at 21:30 pm and with free admission. Entitled “The sound of its two shores. Homenage a Balenciaga” will offer a repertoire with themes by Mediterranean composers, such as Óscar Esplá or Rodríguez Albert, and Basque composers such as Pablo Sorozábal or Jesús Guridi, among others.

For its part, the exhibition El Siglo de Balenciaga will remain open until Friday, September 30. Remember that it is distributed in three spaces: the Soler Blasco Museum (Calle Primicias, 1) commemorates his origins and early work, while the Lambert Arts Center (Calle Mayor, 40) reviews his golden years with objects, photographs, paintings and representative pieces of his work (coats, day and evening suits). cocktail, evening and wedding dresses). Finally the Casa del Cable (Paseo Marina Española, 6) discover his legacy and the paths taken by his main disciples (Felisa Irigoyen and José Luis Molina, Villahierro, Ungaro, Courrèges or Givenchy) after the closing of the Balenciaga house.
