Turisme invests in the development of the Valencian Community beaches

May 29 from 2020 - 16: 34

Turisme Comunitat Valenciana this year has reinforced its support for municipalities with beaches by launching several lines that are currently running in parallel. In fact, the extraordinary situation experienced this year by various supervening circumstances, such as the storm Gloria or the need to adapt this resource to health protocols after the arrival of COVID-19, have led to more resources being allocated to point of the beach infrastructures.

Thus, as the autonomous secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer has pointed out, the Valencian Community has been the first tourist destination on the Spanish coast to have a guide of recommendations to adapt the beaches to the hygienic-sanitary measures established for their enjoyment in conditions of security, an issue that the Consell assists the municipalities for their implementation.

On the other hand, it should be noted that the work continues, which was paralyzed by the arrival of the pandemic caused by COVID-19, for the development of tourist infrastructures owned by Turisme CV and installed on the beaches of the Valencian Community affected for the storm Gloria of January 2020.

Specifically, an investment of close to 7 million euros has been budgeted to carry out all actions, both maintenance and repair, as well as new infrastructure, as well as health and safety.

Regarding the actions that are being carried out to replace the damage suffered by the tourist infrastructures of the beaches after the stormy glory of January, and among which is the municipality of Xàbia, the replacement of sections of canalization to the footbaths stands out, the repair of seawater collection wells for the supply of pumping stations and, from them, to the footbaths. They also include the repair of pumping stations; the repair and placement of footbaths; relocation and supply of wooden walkways; in addition to activities on recreational and sports infrastructures such as repair of games, in addition to the replacement or repair of information posters, among other actions.

On the other hand, not only has the repair and provision of material affected by the storm been planned, but an investment of close to one million euros has been planned in different comxicotetions for the installation of new equipment.

To this it should be added that the adaptation of the beaches for their safe opening has led to the need to launch an emergency contracting of access control elements, while it will be necessary to provide the municipalities with more gateways to organize the inflows and outflows on the beaches, as well as other elements to safeguard the minimum social distance. For this reason, an extraordinary contract of between 1,5 and 2 million euros in material is currently being processed.

In this way, the Generalitat plans to make an investment this year of over 10 million euros to try to ensure that our most iconic tourist resource is in perfect condition for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.

Finally, it should be remembered that the municipalities have the possibility of compensating the current municipal spending on surveillance, user awareness and beach cleaning from the 2020 Municipal Cooperation Fund.

In the same way, Turisme Comunitat Valenciana plans to launch an information campaign in the coming days that will help raise awareness and sensitize users in the different tourist resources, also in beach areas.

In fact, this information campaign, together with the tourism promotion campaign, will place special emphasis on the fact that the beaches are quality, safe and living tourist spaces.
