Public transport to the coves of Xàbia: the service that will have a discount for residents goes out to tender

February 07 from 2023 - 14: 29

El Javea Town Hall has put out to tender the public transport service to decongest the coves with cars during the summer. For Portitxol, he proposes a route with a minibus that would leave from Calle Trípoli and for the granadella recover the tourist train that already worked before the pandemic, with a starting point in the La Guardia Park urbanization.

The tender indicates that the companies that opt for this contract must pay a fee for the concession to the City Council -which starts from 5.000 euros per year- and then manages the collection of the ticket from the users for taking them to the coves. Of course, in the specifications it is reflected that the maximum price will be 3 euros per ticket, a general rate to which a 20% discount will be applied (that is, the ticket will remain at two euros) to all residents in Xàbia and groups such as children under 12 years of age, retirees, large families and people with reduced mobility.

It is established that the service will be provided from the beginning of the month of June during the weekends and from June 23 to September 10 on a daily basis, from 9:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m. and with a frequency minimum of 50 minutes.

The contest will value, in addition to the economic offer, the service project: the characteristics, design of the vehicles and maintenance program, the training of the personnel that will attend it, the schedules and stops that it proposes and the forecasts in case of breakdown or similar .

The Xàbia City Council proposes these public transport routes within its strategy for the preservation of the environment, coastline and pre-coastal. And especially to respond to the saturation that the Portitxol and Granadella coves have experienced in recent years due to the massive influx of users and vehicles during the summer months and the shortage of parking spaces on public roads.

In fact, since the 2017 summer season, different solutions have been implemented to limit access to the coves by private vehicles, in order to harmonize traffic and the environment, as well as improve collective safety.

Free electric buses, with a stop on site with solar panels for recharging, move the Municipality in that direction.

Everything else is clumsily patching not to move forward. At the moment the City Council moves only for businesses...

Once again nothing new, everything that is "to think properly" no, they don't go with the politicians, they go about their business, we don't know which, but there they go, like zombies, the pay and home.
