28 July 2018 - 07: 57

The swimmer of Ciutadella, Tita Llorens has achieved the challenge of joining the peninsula with Ibiza, in a swim, but for the first time without a wetsuit. Llorens jumped into the sea, this Thursday at 7 in the morning, from Xàbia, looking for the currents to be favorable at the beginning of the journey.

To swim the 90 kilometers that separate Xàbia from Ibiza, Tita Llorens has been accompanied by a team formed by a judge, who has been the one who has validated this journey, a support boat with two skippers, a doctor, three paddlers with her kayaks and four swimmers who have been with her in the water.

For this woman, this has been her third attempt to make this journey and the only time she has achieved it. The first was in the year 2016, but an unexpected and abrupt change of time forced him to have to retire without reaching Ibiza. In the 2017 came his second attempt, but he did not get it after having been at sea for 37 hours, it was the currents that prevented him from achieving the challenge.

On this occasion, and thanks to his great physical preparation and also, having followed the advice of the University of the Balearic Islands and the Balearic Coastal Observation System, he has achieved it.

The most critical moments of the test arrived during the first hours of the night, luckily they managed to overcome them and approach their final goal. It was not easy because when he only had a little more than 6 kilometers, the salt made a dent in his tongue and this prevented him from eating. To this it was added that the wind changed near the Ibizan coasts and this caused him to have to swim against him, with which the effort was greater.

His arrival at Cala Codolar took place on Friday at the 19: 30 hours, in the middle of a big party as he was waiting for a number of friends and fans who paid him a great ovation. Tita Llorens, a woman example of effort, training and especially the tenacity to meet their goals.

His time in traveling the 92 kilometers was 36 and 50 minutes which gives an average speed of 2,54 km / h.
