SVS celebrates its XNUMXth anniversary without regretting casualties during its hours of service

25 September 2021 - 01: 09

The hotel Denia Marriott La Sella Golf Resort & Spa hosted, last night, the celebration of the X Anniversary of the Surveillance and Rescue Society (SVS), based in Xàbia. An entertaining, welcoming act that had all the security measures in the face of the COVID situation. At the event there was a brief review of the good work of SVS.

SVS has been working to save lives for 10 years and proof of this is that in its entire trajectory there has been no drowned person on the beaches that provides surveillance and first aid during the hours of its service. In addition, it has carried out more than 150 rescues and outstanding incidents and more than 100 referrals to hospitals.

These figures are due, as SVS manager Eusebio Miñana pointed out, "to the great work and professionalism of the entire SVS team." Therefore, during the event, four of the team's professionals were recognized for their great work during two performances this summer.

Miñana highlighted the courage and effort of the lifeguards María Fresneda, Jessica Steenhaut, Luciano and Juan Carlos Sansano for the intervention in two emergencies, one that occurred in Cala Baladrar in Benissa and the other in Cova dels Arcs in El Poble Nou de Benitatxell.

On the other hand, the Surveillance and Rescue Society has also thanked the Maritime Rescue work that it has at all times.

SVS embarked on the path of working to save lives in 2011, and now, 10 years later, it continues with the same enthusiasm as the first day. With the expansion of services and personnel during this time, SVS undertakes a new objective, "to continue growing and to have the capacity to reach the entire coast of the Marina Alta," Eusebio said.

The event was attended by Mayor of Xàbia and deputy, José Chulvi, the head of the Maritime Rescue coordination center in Valencia, Antonio Padial, the mayor of Teulada-Moraira, Raúl Llobell, the mayor of Benissa, Arturo Poquet and the Benitatxell sports councilor, Toni Colomer.

Padial thanked the work they do and recalled an anecdote in the early days of Eusebio Miñana that shows the power of organization and coordination of the SVS family in any emergency situation.
