A brigade formed by seven unemployed people from the municipality of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell has started, on Friday, the tasks of cleaning and maintaining the rural roads and green areas of the town.
Thanks to the Emerge 2019-20 Program, subsidized by the Valencian General Employment and Training Service (SERVEF), two important areas for the government team will be satisfied: unemployment and road cleaning.
It was a long-awaited performance, since the grasses and bushes had grown quite a bit lately. Despite having suffered a slight delay beyond the Town hall At the start of the work, the operators have already started in the Molins area, where they will remain for several weeks. Then, until approximately mid-April, they will visit different areas and urbanizations of the municipal area such as Les Fonts, the top del Sol, Pueblo Alcázar, Calistros, Els Benitatxells, etc.
In total, it is planned to adapt 66 kilometers of roads and an area of more than 155.000 square meters. For this, the brigade will have a vehicle and all the forestry machinery necessary to perform the different tasks. Also, after the uprooting and cleaning of the vegetation, the roads will be sprayed with an ecological product that will help prevent the growth of these species.
And, for the first time, the city council, in coordination with the Department of Environment, has carried out an annual programming and planning of these works, so that it is possible to act throughout the town following an order of priorities. This planning contemplates, in addition to systematically executing the works, a continuous maintenance, even after the end of the Emerge Program, and the progressive weakening of the vegetation thanks to the new liquids applied.
The Councilor for Works and Services, María José Ivars, has been this morning in the initiation course that has been given to the operators, who have encouraged them to work for “Keep our town clean and beautiful”. Ivars has also stressed the importance of this performance.
“It was necessary to adapt the rural roads and vegetation areas, since after the last rains they had proliferated a lot. We hope that in a few weeks the citizenship will begin to notice the changes ”, the mayor has affirmed.
