El Javea Town Hall presented last Monday, August 23, to the Planning Commission the project that will rehabilitate the lighthouse of the Cap de Sant Antoni. The intention is to open the space to the public to turn it into an interpretation center of the Parc Natural del It montgó.
This is the step prior to its vote by the plenary session in the town hall on Thursday, August 26, where the rehabilitation plan can be definitively approved. After this procedure, the next steps are the budgetary allocation of the intervention and the bidding of the works.
The project includes rehabilitating the two buildings that will be open to visitors and the conditioning of the common areas. For its part, the total cost of the work will be 1 euros and must be completed in 087 months.
The conversion of the lighthouse into an interpretation center has the approval of the Alicante Port Authority, as well as the Montgó Natural Park. In addition, the Xàbia City Council has obtained the concession for 15 years of this emblematic space. For this reason, the entity considers that it is a good way to "promote a focus of cultural and ecological awareness that is in tune with the municipality's commitment to the sustainable management of its heritage."
