Xàbia prepares to launch a new edition, and already the fifth, of the humor contest COMEDY dijous. Once 2020 starts, the Department of Culture will start with the cycle of monologues that is composed of two performances, the amateur and the professional, and therefore opens the groundwork for participants interested in showing their tables can attend the amateur comxicotetion which is celebrated in parallel.
Contest rules
The councilman of Culture, Quico Moragues, he recalled that there are three final prizes: 500, 300 and 150 euros for the finalists. This humorous event can be presented by any person older than 16 years (minors with the authorization of their parents or legal guardians) either from Xàbia or any other municipality and to participate they must prepare an original and proper humorous performance (of a maximum of 20 minutes) in Castilian or Valencian, free theme and that may well be in monologue, sketch, song, improvisation or magic format.
The performance will take place on the same day that Culture programs the monologues of the cycle COMEDY dijous, which will start from January and as usual they will be held alternately in the Multipurpose Room of the Clot Portal and in the Duanes Library.
That day, the public will vote and the three most valued artists or groups will go to the final in which a jury appointed by the Town hall will decide the winner.
Registrations can be made from the January 2 in person or by mail at the Department of Culture (Plaça de Baix, number 6), as well as by email addressed to cultura@ajxabia.org
