The International Master, Rufino Camarena, a very experienced player, belonging to the Xeraco Chess Club, was the best with 7 possible 7 points in the XXXI Villa de Xàbia Chess Tournament. Comxicotetion that featured 5 qualified players between Masters, International Teachers and Fide Masters being of different nationalities.
At 10: 05 hours the players were welcomed by the President of the Loreto Party Commission, Vicente Gavilá, then the bases were read and at 10: 10, to be exact, the comxicotetion began. This caused that more than one of the players lost the first game when arriving late.
The Sub 14 tournament was once again a success in terms of children's participation since 29 were the participants, some of the top players such as Javier Cuadrado (Jaque Mate), Andrés Simarro (Alaquás), Jones Rufus (Paterna), Gabriel Topoleanu (Oliva) and Andrey Smirnov (Xàbia). All delighted those present putting all their efforts to do their best.
Point out the high level of Xàbia participants in this category thanks in part to Javea Town Hall which launched an educational project eight years ago where chess is taught in the classrooms of all the schools in that town during school hours, which is intended to continue for this next year due to the great acceptance of all.
