Rosa Cardona, candidate of the Popular Party for Mayor of Xàbia, has recently met with the Association of Merchants of Duanes de Mar and with residents of the neighborhood to convey their plans with the area. The popular ones of Xàbia thus continue their campaign of neighborhood meetings.
The leader of the popular, has shared with the attendees the need for a government "that looks towards Duanes, treating it with the importance it deserves." Rosa Cardona, has explained that this ranges, "from extending the hours of the Duanes Library, changing the lampposts and improving the lighting of Paseo Jaime I, to launching a plan for the beautification and care of Marina Española that erases rust from the streetlights. We also do not want to overlook the necessary improvement in cleaning or enable lever and pedal in the containers both in Duanes and in all of Xàbia, integrating them into the landscape" and, especially, "restore dignity to degraded and abandoned parks, reforming them as they are Pedro IV and the one on Calle Génova».
On the other hand, the candidate for mayor has indicated that her objective is that "the Town hall, it must be closer, more present in Duanes", so he puts forward his idea of implanting "at once" the municipal premises that are empty on Cristo del Mar street, turning it into a multipurpose space to be used by associations, serving also as an auxiliary Citizen Attention Office to carry out procedures or, "for example, it could have already been used to acquire the next edition of trade bonds that, with the money from the Provincial Council, will soon be launched."
On the other hand, Rosa Cardona has pointed out the need to continue promoting one of the economic mainstays of Xàbia, such as the commercial center of Duanes, and for this, "we propose to enable a space to hold events, enabling an underground parking in Cristo del Mar, on a plot that we have identified that would be compatible with these uses”. In this way, the popular ones intend to provide a tool, one more opportunity to be able to contribute and continue to keep the commercial fabric of Duanes alive.
For this, the mayor has mentioned some of her electoral proposals, such as aid for the payment of the Construction Tax (ICIO) for the rehabilitation of facades in commercial premises, aid for the modernization and comxicotetiveness of premises and aid for the payment of the down payment to the meter for the supply of water for SMEs and the self-employed that are installed in premises that have been empty for a minimum of 3 years.
Finally, the candidate has indicated that the programming and cultural offer in Xàbia, "owes one to the Duanes neighborhood", which the artistic and musical shows that the City Council programs never arrive. In this regard, one of the commitments expressed by Rosa Cardona has been to “promote the dissemination of Escacs Vivents, through a cultural week in which Schools and Institutes are also involved. In addition, we must not forget that in addition to its scenic, cultural and musical value, it is the only Festival of National Interest that we have in Xàbia ».
