Xàbia has gathered its solidarity table today, a forum in which the municipal departments of social care and the charitable organizations of the population are present.
Mayor, José Chulvi, and the councilor of Servicios Sociales, Rita Berruti, have reported on the protocols that both the State and the Generalitat are activating to channel aid to Ukraine, both for people who are in the war zone and those who are arriving in our country fleeing from it.
Thus, it has been agreed to act in an organized manner and following official channels to try to offer useful help and legal certainty. The Consistory will be in charge of all the administrative part and of advising the asylees on all the procedures that they have to complete to obtain international protection, health coverage and schooling. It will also reinforce the economic endowment of social services so that it can meet the ordinary demand plus that derived from this emergency situation.
For their part, it will be the social groups that are in charge of organizing the volunteers, collaborating in collecting material to send to the war zone (after the Town hall will send the donations to the logistics center that the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces has prepared to get them to those in need through humanitarian corridors) and will cooperate with Social Services in the needs that are detected.
Regarding the reception of refugees, the City Council informs that, following the latest indications of the Generalitat, it must be channeled through the website www.gvaoberta.gva.es/es/ukrania
Individuals, local entities, NGOs or other organizations must formalize their offer of housing or rooms through a form hosted on this website. They also ask that anyone who is already in contact with or is receiving Ukrainian people or families who have arrived by their own means inform the local authorities so that they can assist them and correctly inform them of the steps they must take to correctly regularize their situation.
