The Civil Registry of Jávea: contact details and procedures

The Civil Registry is a public registry to give official proof of the facts and acts on the civil status of people, their name and surname, birth, death, affiliation, sex or nationality. The Civil Registry of Jávea shares facilities with the Magistrate's court.

Location

Since 2019, the Civil Registry occupies part of a municipal building shared with the Magistrate's court. This is located at carrer d'Avall, 39, next to the Municipal file and the Tapis headquarters (Occupational Workshop for Malalts Mentals de Xàbia).

Formalities

The services carried out and provided by the Civil Registry of Jávea are those related to:

• Birth, death and marriage registrations and certificates:

These procedures are only allowed to be done in person, although if you have a digital ID, you can obtain only the certificate or birth certificate or death or marriage certificate online.

• Civil wedding acts: in the hearing room presided over by the justice of the peace (and these acts are free of charge).
• Marriage Records: they go to the prosecutor's office and the spouses decide where they want to get married (in the Town hall, outdoors...)
• Family Book: The Civil Registry also provides this document once the civil status of the citizen changes.
• Registry of ecclesiastical marriages: Due to the agreement between Church-State, this procedure is also carried out in this administration.
• Change of name and surname: This procedure is only allowed to be done in person.
• Sex registration rectification: This procedure is only allowed to be done in person.

Regarding the certificates online, these are personal, you can only get the one from the holder of that digital ID.
