Rafa Andarias gets a historic bronze medal in the 'World Cup class 2.4mR'

The xabiero yachtsman, Rafael Andarias, made history by getting the first medal in Spain for a Sailing World Cup adapted in the Class 2.4mR. This new milestone for Spanish sport was achieved in Hyeres (France).

The comxicotetion for Andarias started with a fifth place on the first day. Position that was improving with the passage of the tests. The sailor of Club Náutico Jávea added good partials that allowed him to be among the best. The regularity that maintained during the comxicotetion caused that it was put in positions to obtain metal.

In the last race of the race known as Medal Race and whose score was worth double, the Italian comxicotetor, Antonio Squizatto, who was in second place in the general classification, was disqualified for premature departure. This fact, together with the good position of the Spaniard who finished the race in third place, finally gave the bronze medal to Rafa Andarias, who achieved the first metal for Spain in history in a World Cup of adapted sailing.

The gold medal went to Damien Seguin, French sailor, while his compatriot, Bruno Jourden was second. The third place on the podium went to a contender Rafa Andarias who hung the bronze medal around his neck.

At the end of the test, Rafa Andarias commented that "It is a privilege for me to achieve for Spain the first bronze medal in the World Cup of sailing".

The next appointment for Rafa Andarias will be the European Championship to be held in June in Kiel, Germany, a comxicotetion in which he won in 2016.
